Karina Reyna, MSc
Karina Reyna has been the lead veterinarian and animal health care specialist for the Centivax program. She is a veterinarian with 15 years of experience in field epidemiology and in animal health programs of the Guatemalan government. She has a Master of Science in Public Health with an emphasis in epidemiology by the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala, is certified as emergency response personnel in avian diseases by the University of Delaware, and holds a Specialty in Applied Epidemiology by the Universidad Autónoma de México. She is the Guatemalan incident commander in outbreaks caused by infectious diseases that affects cattle, poultry and any animal species in Guatemala, and Field Epidemiologist certified by FETP (Field Epidemiologist Training Program). Karina is certified in "Good emergency management practice” and has capabilities in systems of risk analysis and surveillance of pests and diseases in animals, Food Safety, Ecology and disease patterns. She is trained in swine flu and African Swine Fever rapid response and is a true believer in the changes that can be achieved through science and environmental care.
