Gusti Zeiner, Ph.D.
Chief Innovation Officer
Dr. Gus Zeiner is a molecular biologist with a specialized focus on RNA enzymology and the development of molecular tools. He possesses a portfolio of 14 publications and 26 granted US patents. Following his doctoral training in Microbiology and Immunology at UCLA, Dr. Zeiner did a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he explored how mammalian gene regulation is co-opted by host-pathogen interaction. Dr. Zeiner’s expertise in designing and applying novel molecular tools transitioned him from an academic career to a the biotechnology sector. As an Advanced R&D Scientist at Agilent’s Central Research Laboratories, he spent five years identifying unmet needs in biological measurement and crafting molecular tools to address these gaps. His work at Agilent Labs focused on synthetic biology, RNA sequencing, and Cas9-based genome editing. In 2015 Dr. Zeiner was a co-founder and Chief Science Officer at Chimera Bioengineering (acquired 2024), a next-generation CAR-T company that leveraged post-transcriptional gene regulatory networks in T cells that were engineered to conditionally deliver efficacy enhancing payloads directly to tumors.
