Nicholas Bayless, PhD

Chief Technology Officer

Nicholas Bayless, PhD is a cellular and molecular immunologist, who is trained in both laboratory and computational techniques. Bayless completed his PhD in the lab of Dr. Catherine Blish at Stanford University, where he worked to characterize the alterations to maternal immunity during pregnancy and how this altered immune system functions during influenza virus infection. He also led a cross-department collaboration to identify a critical cell type that is infected by Zika virus and linked Zika infection to the developmental disorders seen in babies exposed to Zika in utero. His research has been published in Nature, Cell Host and Microbe, and the Journal of Virology.

Nick graduated with a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and biophysics from Yale University. He also holds a master’s degree in biotechnology from New York University and a doctorate in immunology from Stanford University.
